Hello, friends! We hope you are having a lovely Friday night!

This is an interest check for yuggoth, an upcoming mafia/murder mystery-ish murdergame that will begin in mid or late May 2017. It is heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos and other horror/mystery media forms, and will feature body horror, hallucinations, eldritch abominations, and depending on character actions, perma-death as a possible game mechanic. The game will initially be friends only with a character cap of 42, and anyone on Kyuu (_ayato), Ray (sustain) and/or Jem's (teases) plurk lists is welcome. However, reserves will be open to the public if we still have slots left by the third day! So grab your friends and rally them up.

The basic (and vague) premise for this game is as follows:

Characters wake up in the motel of an abandoned city unaware of how they arrived. The city is surrounded by a fog that does not permit them to leave. During their initial arrival, they will find strange occult happenings, and interact with the Innkeeper and a mysterious voice known as The Old One. It is up to the players to unravel the mystery of their abduction, the enigmatic signs appearing across the city and stop the murders that have begun...

So: Cthulhu, murder, spooky cities, and a fog that may or may not eat you whole. Characters will be encouraged to search for ways to end the murders before there is only one man standing, but whether that is possible or not... It is a mystery.

To keep this short, some of the notable aspects of this game are:

1. Though powers will be nerfed and characters will not be allowed to bring anything but the clothes on their backs, each character will have a personal role. This role can be either an item, weapon, or skill role.
   
2. We have a soft age cap of 13. However, you're more than free to make a case for your younger character if they're (for example) a trained assassin, or otherwise able to thrive in a high stress setting.
   
3. Only characters with a canon humanoid form will be accepted (even if that isn't their default form), but that doesn't necessarily mean they need to be human.
   
4. We have a franchise cap of four (4) characters. This means, to give an example, all Fire Emblem characters will be counted as being from the same cast. We're sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.
   
5. There will be two IC factions: a "mafia" faction and a "detective" faction. But that does not mean they're the only ones who get to murder! Incentives/Rewards and environmental events will help give all characters that extra push they need to kill a man. :)

We're also considering a test drive murder based on comments from those who participated in our last interest check (we got too turnt up — we're sorry), so please let us know if you would like to join in on something like that. It would last two days, one Friday and one Saturday, covering the investigation and trial portion of the murdergame experience.

So far, we're considering the 14th of April or the 21st of April as possible starting dates for the TDM. We ask that you specify which of these two dates is more convenient for you.
