[Throughout the week she's had visions of Seres. It's nothing new to her. In fact it's something that's almost been... missing from her. At first, the visions are simple. They sit and talk, just as they would in her dreams. Velvet's certain it's not truly her, but then again it could be. It's easier to write everything here off as some illusion. But this time, the illusion doesn't sit by her. It stands off in the distance, as if waiting. And when she approaches, Seres moves forward again and it's clear she wants Velvet to follow her. So she does, figuring there's no harm in doing so. It's not even curfew yet after all.
Eventually, Velvet finds herself in the botanical garden and as she ventures further in, she can hear the sounds of a fight. When she finally reaches the source of the noise, she sees... What was his name again? Nagasone. He'd helped her with the cleaning supplies a while ago. Nagasone is wielding a carving knife, and it seems he has the upper hand. But when she sees his opponent's face, her entire body tenses up. She loses her breath, frozen for a moment. Because the man in front of her is none other than the Shepherd, Artorius Collbrande. A thousand emotions rush over her all at once because not only is Artorius here, right here, but... he's losing. And it's obvious to anyone watching that this match won't be the only thing he's losing.] ARTORIUS!
[She runs at them both, but she's too late to stop Nagasone from delivering the finishing blow.Artorius' body falls to the ground. Without thinking, she rushes to his side, kneeling over him in what she knows are his last moments. This is what she wanted... this is what she's fought for for so long, what she's dreamed of for three years now. But one thought remains above everything else: I was supposed to be the one to kill you.]
Don't despair... no matter what...
[Velvet stands up once more, her body shaking with rage. She looks at Nagasone for a second, before running and unleashing a fury of kicks and punches.]
You killed him! You killed... You killed Arthur! I won't let you walk away with your life!
[ There's no time to pause. That's supposed to be ideal actually, because then he can keep going and doesn't need to stop to think about what he's done. They're all warriors, taking lives is nothing new for any of them here. But, if he can have a selfish wish, "just make this easy because I know it won't be." ]
Ah...
[ Velvet rushing over to them as Percival' body falls has him take a step back. At first it's relief, a kind of cold, pragmatic relief an assassin would feel because he doesn't have to seek her out, it'll be fast to deal with her. But then it's surprise when he hears that unfamiliar name, the pure hatred and anger in her voice. This isn't what he expected, for her to... care? Even if it isn't that person, who taken the place of Percival in her eyes.
Then the next feeling... it's just nothing. He's a blade once more, doing his best to block or dodge her onslaught. He may have a weapon, but this isn't a good situation. The knife give him range yet wild swings aren't as fast, and stabs take some dexterity that he can't do in the midst of her onslaught without. He manage to get a slice on her arm when it narrowly missed, then he takes one nasty hit from her shin to his side, his body twisting in pain as he turns away almost without losing sight of her.
This isn't ideal, but he has to evade her and fury for now, create some distance when she keeps closing in. When she tries to strike, he counters, even kicking her back. ]
Try and get your revenge! I can't let you live either!
[Although it's clear from her movements alone that she's a skilled fighter, Velvet's emotions overtake her completely. She's brash and stubborn, she can hear his voice in her head even now. Control your feelings to control the tide of battle. But she can't.
Even when his blade cuts her flesh, she doesn't waver. But of course, there's an obvious downside to this method. She has no defense, and when he kicks her back, she falls to the ground. She doesn't even try to balance herself or brush herself off, as she just gets right back up and tries to close the distance again. Her fighting is getting more sloppy, but she's still persistent. Several of her attacks miss, and yet she refuses to change or give up.]
I am the Lord of Calamity! The source of daemonblight, of all chaos, and of malevolence itself! You have no chance of defeating me!
[ Her carelessness (can he call it that, this... This isn't fair, he knows that but holds down those reservations to just survive) makes this easier, as he dodges her attacks. There's more slices that he lands on her arms and even her side. It's like attacking an animal that's gone rabid, with no care for itself. It just wants its prey dead. Nagasone probably looks like a wounded animal too, but he still has himself. He has to win. ]
I don't care about your title or your crimes! At this rate you'll just fall on my blade, Velvet.
