( HUNTERS - WEEK 2 )
![]() For this week, there will be no sudden loss of control for those who have signed their souls away for the greater good. As long as they're in the Curio Shop by 6:05 PM on Monday, nothing out of the ordinary will happen. All they must do is knock on the shop's door, carefully as if to not draw attention towards themselves, and the door will creak open by itself much like the previous week. As per usual, inside this strange room they'll find Craftly seated at a round table. Shelves of antiques line the walls and the smell of peppermint tea wafts through the air. A thin tendril slips across the table from Craftly's sleeve, hooking around his cup of tea. As smug as ever, he smiles to the group. "Come in, Hunters. It's time for us to begin". Welcome, Hunters! As of this week, you'll get the chance to either investigate one other character or arm them with a randomized weapon. If you have any questions, you can shoot us a quick PP or PM as always! ic rulebook | locations | statuses | room assignments private conversations | ic profiles | graveyard | full navigation hunter's handbook |

[. . .]
. . . I wonder if it's possible for us to post anonymous messages? Like, hang 'em up on the main door of the motel. We could pass on information we want the general public to have that way.
[like the fact that more!! than three people!! can survive this!!]
But doing that may also alert the Prophets to our existence.
[LET HIM DO AN ANONYMOUS CALLING CARD but also, maybe not, because?? double-edged sword]
no subject
Maybe we could try to frame it like it's one of the roles, but vague enough so they wouldn't know which role it is? Or... we can just speculate on whether or not it's possible. If we get enough people talking about the idea, they might try to find out of it's real or not. Or... [ fuck idk ]
no subject
no they'll probably get one if they whine about it]
...I've already talked to a few people about how I want it to be possible for that to happen. I've been... saying that since the beginning. [She tilts her head to the side.] ...so I don't think it would make anyone suspicious of me if they did hear that I started bringing it up as a possibility...? Or...
[She glances down at her hands.]
I don't know. Even if the Prophets became suspicious, I'd survive it if they came after me. But... not if someone else did.
And I don't want to leave the others here undefended.

["lucky"]
[the ice pack only does so much for the pain]
I've been-- saying the same thing since I got here, too. Honestly.
[so maybe it isn't weird for him to keep talking about the possibility, either. but Jay's suggestion got him thinking]
The-- [ow. pauses to groan again] -- Explorer role. What if we. . . used that role as cover to pass on our messages? Explorers are always searching for more information, so it'd be easy to pretend that the role has something to do with information gathering, yeah?
[a frown, but the movement of his mouth hurts, and he shuts his eyes tightly]
We can pass things on, bit by bit. We don't have to start off by saying we know how to end the game before there are only three people left, but we can give everyone some words of encouragement. Or something.
[they probably could use it right now]
no subject
[ so easing their way slowly into the information is good, especially so early in the game. ]
We don't want to give away too much now, since then people might start to wonder how we'd figure out so much so fast. [ welp there's a new pang of pain. he clenches his fist, waiting for it to pass so he can keep talking. ] We can't tell Light too much until we clear Kaiba though.
no subject
[They can't just straight up say something like "Oh yeah, I'm the Teacher!" since Light will most likely immediately call them out. Although it's a bit of a risk, if they all manage to survive, then...]
Between the three of us, we're the Gangster, the Explorer, and the Paranoid. So if we end up needing to cover our tracks... any one of us can claim another's role. We won't contradict them.
[As long as they never get killed, their roles won't be announced like Hana's and Jason's were, right?]
It could be good if... someone decided that only having a map made you sound like an easy target for the Prophets. If they thought that you had my skill, maybe they would leave you alone, Jay-san.
no subject
If they were smart, they would leave Jay alone if they thought he was the Paranoid.
[the ice pack once again shifts from his mouth to his head. guuuuh]
But if either of you claim my role, you'll have the same problem I'd have if I revealed it to anyone: you'd be immediately suspicious if someone showed up dead with a gunshot wound. So. . . I dunno if that part is such a good idea.
[let him be the only one at risk here gosh]
no subject
[ he turns to look directly at yukina now. ]
Your description mentions the soulless beasts. Everyone seems to be taking that literally, so they're all probably expecting actual monsters. But... [ now he's addressing the both of them. ] Do the Prophets know it's talking about them?
no subject
[She doesn't know the difference between guns. All she knows is they're scary when they're pointed at her.]
But... that's not a guarantee, so you're right that it might not help to do a full three-way swap.
[...oh. Jay brings up something she hadn't considered - since she knew the soulless beasts were the Prophets, she hadn't even thought that they wouldn't know it. But that's a good point.]
You're right... we could always ask Craftly-san. But, I don't see how they wouldn't know... wouldn't it be obvious to you if you were missing your soul?
no subject
[shotguns and handguns definitely cause very different wounds. he closes his eyes again and sighs, waiting until another wave of pain passes to speak]
Craftly said they had to actively sign away our souls. Kinda like. . . we did.
So they must know, right?
no subject
[ as if on cue, he shuts his eyes shut for a second as the pain hits him again. goddammit. ]
no subject
[Man, she doesn't know?? If he hadn't only specified the shotgun she would have wondered if the nailgun shot things too.]
Well, I'll ask Craftly-san, just to confirm. If it does turn out that the Prophets know that they're the "soulless beasts," then... I really think we ought to consider acting as though you're the Paranoid and I'm the Explorer, Jay-san. It might keep us all safer that way.
[They can let things slip about the maps, and if the Prophets go after her as a result, they'll be in for a surprise.]
no subject
[that's not a bad plan. not a bad plan, at all. except for the part where it makes Kaito nervous for others to risk their lives?? nevertheless, he doesn't protest]
Let us know what Craftly says, okay, Yukina?
no subject
I would prefer to keep the spotlight off of you. While I am sure other weapons can take down the Prophets, yours is the only one that's guaranteed to kill them. We need to make sure you last as long as possible.
no subject
[But, in the meantime...]
...I agree with Jay-san. The only way to get as many people as possible out of this alive is to stop the Prophets. If anything happens to you... then protecting everyone becomes so much more difficult.
no subject
I know.
But it doesn't feel right with you two being the only ones risking your lives, here.
no subject
[ okay he needs another napkin to spit blood into. this is so gross. ]
Also, since Craftly told me that the person with the skeleton key can get in here, we should be extra careful not to leave anything that might trace back to us. [ he frowns. ] It would probably be good if we make finding out who has that role a priority.
no subject
...Craftly-san he said he doesn't think the Prophets know they're the soulless beasts, after all. We're the only ones who know.
We're all sort of risking our lives just by being... Hunters. What's important is that we find a way to do this as safely as we can. Finding the person with the Skeleton Key... if we feel comfortable having one of us publicly claim to be the Explorer, we can ask everyone to approach that person privately. It would... make sense for someone with a key to team up with someone with a map, right...? Maybe we could put up a note on the bulletin board.
Like... "This is the Explorer. If you have the skeleton key, please meet me outside one of the locked rooms at a certain time." Though, I don't know if anyone would feel safe doing that... we could say they can bring a friend with them, for safety? We'd want there to be two of us going, too.
no subject
How do we know they won't also bring a friend? And. . .
Do we want to reveal to someone who might be an enemy that even two of us are working together?
no subject
If we don't find out who it is, it won't make or break us, but knowing that someone could just waltz in wherever they want isn't really something we can ignore, especially if they turn out to be a Prophet.
no subject
[A GIRL CAN DREAM...]
I hope whoever it turns out to be is... trustworthy. This is difficult enough without having to worry about someone discovering something they shouldn't.
no subject
[he. makes a face. turns away, and spits out some blood into a napkin. uuugh]
I think we just need to be careful. That's. . . all we can really do.
no subject
[ hopefully sooner rather than later though. ]
Is there anything else you feel like we should discuss?
no subject
[Probably.]
...but, if something comes up... I'll come find you both.
no subject
[there is one thing, actually]
I think I know who the Medium is.
